Count Olaf - Research

Count Olaf

Backstory

Count Olaf is the main antagonist in "A Series of Unfortunate Events." His most distinguished features are his uni-brow and an eye tattoo on his ankle. Count Olaf is said to be a distant relative of the Baudelaire siblings, the main characters of the books/movie/show. It is also possible that he fabricated this relationship so that he could adopt the Baudelaire orphans, as he was after their fortune.
In "The Bad Beginning," the first book of the series, Count Olaf becomes the adoptive father of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, after their parents' death in a mysterious fire which he was most likely involved in. Olaf loses custody of the Baudelaires after his "Marvelous Marriage" play failed and he begins stalking them everywhere, plotting complicated schemes to obtain the children's fortune, even if it means murdering them.

Personality

Count Olaf is greedy and he is obsessed with the Baudelaires' fortune. He believes that money is the most important thing on earth, aside from applause and lip balm. He may be a misanthrope who has stopped caring about human society, since he is so unhygienic and doesn't seem to care about what other people think of him or appealing to the standards of society.
